Hal tersebut disampaikan oleh Masayoshi Son, bos Softbank Corp. Softbank sendiri memiliki 34 persen saham di Alibaba. Perusahaan e-commerce asal China ini lebih menguntungkan ketimbang kinerja dua rivalnya asal AS, Amazon.com dan EBay Inc. "Mereka berdua adalah perusahan hebat, jika Anda melihat beberapa tahun ke belakang. Total Nilai transaksi e-commerce melalui platform Amazon dan EBay, masih lebih besar Alibaba," kata Son, dilansir dari Bloomberg, Jumat (30/5/2014). Son menilai, kombinasi nilai pasar dari Amazon dan EBay mencapai sekira USD200 miliar. "Anda bisa menilai sendiri berapa nilai Alibaba," cetus dia. Sementara itu, nilai pasar Alibaba sendiri diperkirakan mencapai USD168 miliar. Berdasarkan angka tersebut, nilai kepemilikan Softbank di Alibaba mencapai USD58 miliar.
